My Guess:
Just think if that Data Center Apple bought was acctually a place to store alll the studios movies. Then you pay 9.99 for the rights to what ever movie and it is streamed Slingbox style to your Airport Extreme that has HDMI, Component, Composite etc outlets for your TV. Then you have your movie you bought anytime all the time but never have to take storage of your own, and never have to deal with downloading or anything.
You heard it hear first!

I'm not sure if I would care for that sort of service though. I'm thinking I would most likely just burn off a purchased movie to DVD, as long as it's possible of course.
Having it remotely hosted would be nice if you're going somewhere else to watch the movie, but that's dependant upon the fact that this "somewhere else" would most likely need this device as well.

Everyone decrying the head shot, if you read the better of the two articles, you will see that gunfire was exchanged. The guard didn't just open up on people running away with loot. They opened up on the guard in the attempt to get away. If that happens, all bets are off on what the guard can do.

Yes, when you are a vendor at a show there are strict rules. It's in the contract. If you purchase a booth you have to stay in that booth, period. Booths are available on first come first serve basis usually with returning vendors getting the right of first refusal for booths they have held previously. The ends and large booths near foot traffic are more expensive and they command a higher price. Some shows, fewer today than before, allow for "cigarette girls" or "strollers" but the vendor pays for this as they would for any other perks�and they are not cheap. They are generally given a specific time period in which they may walk the floor (if in costume they need a chaperone). They are not allowed to transact business but hand out "freebies". According to the story Greenpeace only signed up for a booth. All contracts I have seen say you'll get thrown out if you don't obey the rules.

Great news that Kentsfield is coming early, however I am curious to see what Apple does with it (if anything). Since it is based on the Conroe chipset, and Apple has elected not to incorporate Conroe into any of the Mac line-up (yet), I wonder what Kentsfield's role will be (if any) in the Mac world.

2) Maybe all the touchscreen stuff we think is for the video ipod is really for the phone and the dialpad and clickwheel both use a touch sensitive thing to work.
good point. for me after using a RAZR for the past year, i find myself always looking at the phone to dial a number; therefore a "virtual" keypad on a screen would be no different at all, barring the very slight (tho admittedly noticeable) physical feedback of hitting an actual button instead of a virtual one. having said all that, the idea of a iPod size (tho preferably something between a nano + a fullsize iPod) with a virtual keyboard for the phone/limited PDA stuff and a wheel for the music stuff sounds perfect for me. as long as its got something to the tune of 8GB like the new nano i would definitely get it, including swapping carriers if need be.

Do we have an exact hour the event will be held. Because it's at least 8 maybe 10 hours later in Germany than it is in San Francisco.
We're ahead in Europe so it'll probably be around 2AM in the morning for San Fran if the event is in the early morning as per the standard Apple event timing.

Dude, it's a MacWorld convention, not an environmental love-in. GP needs to get their own convention. They were on private property - the conf organizers have the right to do what they want. Never mind their rights, huh?

The whole point of the MacExpo is to show the services that Apple and its Third-Party agents can supply to the public. I don't see what the harm is in advertising what they DON'T offer (ie:- in the opinion of Greenpeace - a sound environmental agenda) at the same time.
I'm not going to side with any particular viewpoint about Apple's "green policy" here, as I simply have not read enough about it to convey an honest and balanced opinion. however I do feel that it is within Greenpeace's right to advertise the issues they feel strongly about in an orderly manner (which as far as I'm concerned they did on Thursday!).

The burglars were shooting at him also. So the security guard acting in self defense. It wasn't like they were unarmed and while they ran away he shot them.

Only in America, can you have the intention to hurt/kill others, but until an x amount of people are hurt/shot or raped, then charges can be pressed allow criminals to make multiple attempts until they have a good successful one before they are official caught/punished. What the hell did he think would happen robbing a store while being armed? Cops would give him lollipops? Come on, people that rob banks shouldn't be "surprised" that they were shot. He knew the consequences of armed robbery.

Canada is sounding awfully good to me right now.
Minimum wage is $8.80 in my province (one of the lower wages in Canada, but also relatively low taxes), but you could easily make $11 min. at a good few fast food places. The average official minimum wage is probably around $9.30 here. The taxes we pay are higher, but then there's the healthcare and other social things. Perhaps we can continue that, if we get rid of our current PM who wants Canada to be a smaller-population more-land version of the States...

I call up Verizon and tell them I have a problem, on last thursday, I talk to a supervisor and we get the issue worked out. She asked me when I would like my credit applied, as soon as possible or on my next billing cycle. I told her as soon as possible, I had my credit applied to my account saturday.
I know this got a off topic, but switching back to a crap company like Cingular is not in my future, no matter if they call me up and offer me a free iPhone to come back to them.

You got customer service from Verizon? Is this before or after they tacked on the taxes that aren't being collected anymore? Or crippled the Bluetooth on their phones? Or put a terrible GUI on their phones? Or any other number of things that they've done that are anti-consumer?

I think it would be kinda cool in a retro way. Just put the numbers on the click wheel. while most people just select the person on the list. which the iPod are really good at.
How many times do you actually punch in the numbers on your cellphone today? I tend to find more or less all numbers I call from my phone book or push "call back". It is very rare that I use the keypad.
